A rising star with a promising future, Hudson Joseph Meek, who appeared alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as Ansel Elgort and Jamie Foxx in Baby Driver, has tragically passed away at the age of 16. His sudden death has left his family, friends, and fans devastated.

Meek, a talented young actor, succumbed to injuries sustained in a devastating accident. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the accident occurred in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, when Meek was ejected from a moving vehicle. Despite receiving care at UAB Hospital, he passed away on December 22, less than 48 hours after the incident, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on August 5, 2008, Hudson Meek was more than just an actor. A sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, he was deeply involved in his school community. He played on the Vestavia Hills Rebel Football Team, participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, served in the Student Government Association, and showcased his musical talents in the Honor Choir.

Meek’s adventurous and vibrant spirit extended beyond the classroom. He loved sports, including football, basketball, and boxing, and cherished outdoor activities like water sports and hiking. His passion for the Auburn Tigers and his strong bond with his close-knit group of friends were a testament to his zest for life.

On the screen, Meek shone brightly. He gained recognition for portraying the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in the critically acclaimed film Baby Driver. His acting credits also include roles in the film 90 Minutes in Heaven and the TV series Found, demonstrating his remarkable talent and potential.

In the wake of his passing, heartfelt tributes poured in. A family statement on Facebook read, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for December 28, 2024, at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama. The service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person, reflecting the wide-reaching impact Meek had on so many.

To honor Meek’s memory, his family has established a scholarship fund at Vestavia Hills High School, ensuring that his love for learning and his dedication to his community live on.
